Louis Leret recommends: 10 Movies We’re Looking Forward To: April 2018

The first quarter of 2018 is behind us, and by far, Black Panther remains the year’s biggest and most culturally impactful release thus far. Sure, last month brought some high-profile challengers in Tomb Raider, Red Sparrow and A Wrinkle in Time. Yet, director Ryan Coogler’s Marvel adventure has remained affixed atop the box office chart, only to be unseated by Pacific Rim: Uprising. So it’s ironic now that T’Challa’s vibranium grip is beginning to slip that we enter a month pretty well defined by the lead-up to his next big-screen appearance, the game-changing Avengers: Infinity War.

It was the type of fist-pumping moment that could generate cheers even from fans who hadn’t grown up reading Marvel Comics for their entire lives. Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: ‘Alien’ Designer H.R. Giger’s Insane Unused Batmobile Concept Brought to Life in 3D Model

A fun piece of trivia is making the rounds again, and since we’ve never written about it at /Film, now’s as good a time as any to share it.  H.R. Giger , one of the designers of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic Alien , was hired to create some Batmobile concept art for director Joel Schumacher ‘s 1995 film  Batman Forever – and Giger’s design is just as odd as you’d expect from the man whose mind birthed the Xenomorph. Take a closer look below. H.R. Giger’s Batmobile Concept Art As you can see from the top left corner, Giger took his inspiration from a pair of scissors; I suppose he envisioned Batman literally cutting through crime in Gotham City. It’s a horrifying mixture of mechanical tubes and phallic imagery, very clearly from the same mind as the man behind Jodorowsky’s unmade version of  Dune and Scott’s Alien .
