Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: ‘Outlander’ Season 4 Trailer: Claire and Jamie Brave the New World

Image
Claire and Jamie have braved uprisings, battles, thousands of miles, and hundreds of years with each other, but now the two of them face their biggest hurdle yet: the New World. In Outlander season 4, our two star-crossed lovers are reunited, but find themselves stranded in America after the pair were shipwrecked in Georgia last season. Now they venture to North Carolina, where Jamie’s aunt welcomes them to Riverrun. No, not the one in Westeros — though let’s hope that  Outlander  doesn’t start to become as fraught as  Game of Thrones . Outlander Season 4 Trailer Caitriona Balfe and  Sam Heughan return as Claire and Jamie, the couple whose love transcends time — literally. After the pair were separated in their separate times — Claire in 1940s England, Jamie in 18th century Scotland — post-season 2, we saw them reunited in season 3, only for their romance to be interrupted by trials and tribulations once again. Geez, these guys can just never have it eas...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: Here’s What ‘The Last Man on Earth’ Ending Would Have Been If The Show Hadn’t Been Cancelled

Image
The Last Man on Earth  ended on a cliffhanger, but that wasn’t how it was supposed to go out. The post-apocalyptic Fox comedy series was cancelled earlier this summer  during the same week that its fourth season hit TV screens, and in a new interview, creator/star Will Forte explains how The Last Man on Earth ending would have played out if he was able to keep the show alive for a little longer. Like Forte himself, The Last Man on Earth was an odd, lovable comedy full of goofy characters and genuine heart. The series began with Forte’s character, Phil Tandy Miller, thinking that he was the last human being alive on the planet after a devastating virus killed a majority of the population, but as the first season went on, he learned that he was not the lone survivor. The series shifted from being about the wacky antics someone would do to stave off loneliness to being about how to keep a healthy community alive during trying times. And in the midst of it all, the show bal...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: Sony is Remaking the 1987 Bruce Willis, Kim Basinger Comedy ‘Blind Date’, Because Why Not

Image
The people have  demanded a  Blind Date remake, and Sony is going to deliver. The studio is currently developing a remake of the 1987 Bruce Willis , Kim Basinger comedy that marked Willis’ first starring role in a feature film. Someone, somewhere out there has a great original screenplay just waiting to be discovered. But they’ll have to get in line. The  Blind Date remake comes first. Blind Date Trailer While Bruce Willis is primarily known for his dramatic and action-movie roles these days, he actually launched his career with comedy. The role that catapulted Willis to fame was that of detective David Addison on the hit comedy TV series  Moonlighting . Willis parlayed his  Moonlight fame into leading man roles, kicking things off with the 1987 comedy  Blind Date , written by Dale Launer and directed by the legendary Blake Edwards. (However, the film Willis made a year later –  Die Hard – is the one that truly rocketed him to...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ Almost Took Ethan Hunt Down a Much Darker Path

Image
Right now Mission: Impossible – Fallout is in theaters, taking Ethan Hunt ( Tom Cruise ) on one of his most challenging missions yet. But this particular mission, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie , almost took the death-defying IMF agent down a much darker path in a storyline that ended up going in a very different direction in the final cut. However, in order to talk about this Mission Impossible Fallout alternate storyline, we have to dive into some major spoilers for the sequel. You’ve been warned! The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke to Christopher McQuarrie and he talked about the storyline where Ethan Hunt assumes the identity of John Lark, the man who is trying to get his hands on the stolen plutonium that Ethan and his team lose at the beginning of the movie. That still happens in the movie, but the original storyline required Ethan Hunt to be a little more extreme in his portrayal of the villain, forcing him to make some dark decisions. McQuarrie explains:...

Jordan Peele’s upcoming “social thriller”  Us is finally rounding out its cast. Five new actors have been added to the  Us cast, joining the already-cast  Lupita Nyong’o, Elisabeth Moss, Winston Duke  as the Universal feature begins production. The five new cast members have all been cast in undisclosed roles in what has been advertised as a “new nightmare” from Peele.  Us is Peele’s highly anticipated follow-up to his Oscar-winning debut,  Get Out , which grew from a sleeper hit into a pop culture phenomenon last year.  Get Out is a truly brilliant genre-bending horror flick from Peele, who was previously known as a comedian who co-created the Comedy Central sketch show  Key and Peele . And now after his splashy directorial debut, he is helming  Us , which stars Nyong’o, ...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: Blumhouse is Making a ‘Fantasy Island’ Movie

Image
The frightmasters at Blumhouse have come up with their most terrifying idea yet! They’re developing…*checks notes*…a  Fantasy Island movie! Yes, that’s right – a film based on the 1970s Aaron Spelling series about an island where all your dreams can come true…for a price.  Jeff Wadlow , who directed Blumhouse’s  Truth or Dare , will helm the TV-to-film adaptation. Even if you’ve never seen a single episode of  Fantasy Island , I’m betting you’re familiar with it. It was a brightly-lit ’70s-’80s TV show that featured Ricardo Montalbán as a mysterious man in a white suit, and Hervé Villechaize as his sidekick who was famous for yelling, “The plane! The plane!” Here are the rather whimsical opening credits. Fantasy Island According to Deadline , the folks at Blumhouse took one look at this and said, “We’re making that a movie.”  Truth or Dare director Jeff Wadlow will be behind the camera, and he’ll also co-write the film with his  Truth or D...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: ‘Apostle’ Poster and Synopsis Teases an Occult Fable from Director Gareth Evans

Image
Director Gareth Evans is back with his first film since  The Raid 2 , and it sounds amazing.  Apostle is described as an “occult fable” and stars Dan Stevens as a man attempting to rescue his kidnapped sister from sinister religious cult. See the  Apostle poster, and scope the full synopsis, below. Here you have the first poster for  Apostle , the new Netflix film from Gareth Evans. It’s stylish, it’s artistic, it’s vaguely menacing. Flames shooting out of a church? Check. Upside-down cross in the title, signifying  evil ? Check. A dude (possibly Dan Stevens) with no face, and tree branches speared with dead bodies shooting out of his back? Check. Creepy claw-like hands reaching up from the bowls of hell? Check. What more do you need? How about a synopsis! London, 1905. Prodigal son Thomas Richardson (Dan Stevens) has returned home, only to learn that his sister is being held for ransom by a religious cult. Determined to get her back at any cost, ...
