Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: ‘Juliet, Naked’ Trailer: Ethan Hawke and Rose Byrne Have a Rockstar Romance

Image
The summer of Ethan Hawke continues with  Juliet, Naked . Just three months after he played a morose preacher in First Reformed,  Hawke is remind us of how much range he has by stepping back into his romantic-comedy leading man shoes. Hawke stars as an aging rock star who romances Rose Byrne , a woman who finds herself at a crossroads after spontaneously publishing a scathing music review. Juliet, Naked Trailer Based on  Nick Hornby ‘s book of the same name,  Juliet, Naked looks like an absolutely delightful rom-com filled with talented, underrated actors. But soon her life is sent into upheaval when Crowe reaches out to her after she publishes a scathing review of his album. Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: This Week In Trailers: Wolfman’s Got Nards, New York Asian Film Festival, Daddy Issues, We The Animals, Moss

Image
Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week we visit an Asian film festival, revisit Monster Squad , visit three brothers from another mother, look deep inside ourselves in a small town, and get our freak on. Wolfman’s Got Nards Just when you thought you had heard everything there is to hear about Monster Squad , a seminal film for many budding cineastes, director Andre Gower is here to give you a little more. Even though Gower was in front of the camera for the original, what you can see in this trailer is someone who has reverence and love for a movie that just will not die. For those of us who revere this box-office bomb, which was written by Shane Black for ...

Patrick Álvarez & Louis Leret recommends: Disney Imagineering Has Built Stunt Robots; Robot Uprising Now Inevitable

Image
Having learned nothing from  Westworld , Disney Imagineering went ahead and built stunt robots that can flip through the air, and probably eventually rebel against their cruel human masters. It’s likely these high-flying bots will be used in Disney’s  Star Wars land, or possible upcoming Marvel attractions. Disney Stunt Robots  In the video above, you can see the cool and potentially terrifying new robot stunt doubles built by the folks at Disney Imagineering. Imagineering develops technology and rides for Disney’s theme parks, which means these articulate stunt bots are bound to debut in a Disney park in the foreseeable future. Here’s what  Tony Dohi , Principal R&D Imagineer and Morgan Pope , Associate Research Scientist at Disney, told Tech Crunch about the stunt bot project: “So what this is about is the realization we came to after seeing where our characters are going on screen…whether they be Star Wars characters, or Pixar characters, or Marvel ...
