‘Atlanta’ Season 4 is Coming to FX, Will Have Eight Episodes

Image
Donald Glover ‘s multi-Emmy Award-winning show  Atlanta has been renewed for a fourth season at FX, long before its third season even arrives on the cable channel. The series – a comedy/drama hybrid which was compared to Twin Peaks in the lead-up to its premiere but is actually unlike anything else on television – will now film both its third and fourth seasons starting this spring. TVLine brings news about the Atlanta season 4 renewal, and the fact that production on seasons 3 and 4 will commence in the spring. It’s unclear if the seasons will be shot simultaneously or back-to-back, but perhaps it will be a combination of both, like how the Russo brothers shot Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame . Both the third and fourth seasons will consist of eight episodes each. The first season was made up of ten episodes, while season 2 had eleven. I’m glad to see Glover and his collaborators take a “less is more” approach here, because Atlanta ‘s unique tone seems like it...

‘Fast and Furious’ Actress Michelle Rodriguez Says Writer Chris Morgan “Has Absolutely Nothing to Do With” Where the “Justice For Han” Narrative is Going

Image
There’s more trouble brewing in the Fast and Furious family. Michelle Rodriguez , who plays Letty, has voiced her displeasure with the way the franchise has treated its female characters in the past, though she seemed to resolve that dispute earlier this year . But now she’s taken to Twitter to dismiss the contributions of writer/producer Chris Morgan , who has been the architect of the Fast franchise since 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift . Specifically, Rodriguez says that Morgan has nothing to do with the “Justice for Han” narrative. Take a look at her comment below. I’ve been around since the beginning way before Chris Morgan came along & he has absolutely nothing to do with where this narrative is or where it’s going FYI ? Hobbs and Shaw writer promises that justice for Han is coming | https://t.co/B3ZbIZ5vot https://t.co/6u2oDTec5U — Michelle Rodriguez (@MRodOfficial) August 6, 2019 There’s so much to dig into there, but let’s start with a quick recap ...

‘Event Horizon’ TV Series in the Works from ‘Blair Witch’ Director Adam Wingard

Image
Director Paul W.S. Anderson arrived on the scene by directing the awesomely bad adaptation of the popular video game Mortal Kombat . But after that, he directed what might be the best movie of his career: the sci-fi horror film Event Horizon starring Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan, Jason Isaacs, Joely Richardson, Richard T. Jones and more. Now that movie is poised to become a new series from from Amazon and Paramount Television. Variety has word on the Event Horizon TV series in the works with Adam Wingard slated to executive produce and direct. Wingard is coming off working on the blockbuster monster sequel Godzilla vs. Kong , but he also previously helmed horror and thrillers like The Guest, Blair Witch , and You’re Next , so he’s no stranger to genre filmmaking. So what’s Event Horizon about? Here’s the official synopsis: When the Event Horizon, a spacecraft that vanished years earlier, suddenly reappears, a team is dispatched to investigate the ship. Acc...

How ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ Completes the ‘Fast and Furious’ Franchise’s Long Road to Science Fiction

Image
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is now in theaters and it is a bonkers action movie that brings the street racing franchise into soft sci-fi territory and a step closer to their inevitable movie set in space . Who would have thought back in the early 2000s that a franchise that started with petty criminals and street racing would one day introduce superhuman cybernetics and a programmable virus? With the franchise’s first spin-off (unless you count Tokyo Drift ) feeling like such a departure from the early years of the Fast & Furious movies, let’s take a scroll down memory lane to see how we got here. The Fast and the Furious (2001) Remember when the Fast & Furious franchise was little more than a rip-off of the 1991 bro-tastic Point Brake , only with muscle cars instead of surfboards? Neither does anyone working in the Fast & Furious franchise, apparently. Anyway, this one follows LAPD cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) who goes undercover in the...
